Where To Buy Royal Canin Vegetarian Dog Food !!TOP!!

Natural Balance vegetarian food isn't that smelly as it doesn't contain any animal-based ingredients, but I've found that the food feels a little bit drier and lighter than other dry dog foods. The size of the kibble is pretty standard and relatively thin, but I've noticed that Yuna needs to chew more when eating. Meaning, if your dog eats very fast without chewing, then you might want to get a special bowl along with the food just to slow down eating, which is what we've been doing with Yuna's baby sister, Yena :).

I've also put Yena on the vegetarian food recently, partially just for the weight management as she tends to put on weight far more easily than Yuna. And the result has been great as she's in a much healthier border collier shape now. The beer belly is gone! XD (joke)

It has been very difficult to find proper vegetarian dog treats to meet my standards, so I've been using the food as a go to treat. It has been working very well without giving any bad stomach reactions. I have to admit that Natural Balance Vegetarian Dog Food isn't the most affordable food that you can find, but still it's much cheaper than the Royal Canin one :P. Anyways, it's a great food to complement the Royal Canin diet and my man and I are getting very excited as we have started to seeing some improvements in her affected skin area :). I highly recommend it as a complementary food to a limited diet whether it's for allergies and/or weight management!

They also note in the booklet that vegetarian foods need to be supplemented with vitamin D. Most foods listed below contain vitamin D supplementation (some use D2 and some D3; according to this paper, little is known at this time about absorption efficacy of D2 vs. D3 in dogs).

Should you choose vegetarian dry dog food or vegetarian canned dog food? It depends. My vet recommended dry kibble since my dog is genetically predisposed to dental problems, but it depends on your dog! (And you should still brush their teeth anyway.)

Diets that fall into this category are Prescription and Veterinary diets and can therefore only be recommended by your veterinarian. If you are interested in these diets, we recommend chatting to your vet about whether they are appropriate for your dog. If your vet doesn't think they are suitable for your pet, you might need to wait until more commercially available vegetarian pet foods come to the Australian market!

Proplan Veterinary Diet Hypoallergenic:Protein source: Hydrolysed soy protein (contains fish oil)Recommended for: The diagnosis and management of food allergies. Depending on your method of classification, this diet is either vegetarian or pescatarian.

What is a pescetarian diet? 'Pescetarian' is the term used to describe a diet free from meat, except for seafood. (Ever heard someone call themselves a 'vegetarian who eats fish'? The term they should be using is 'pescetarian'!)

What about home-cooked vegetarian diets for pets? Preparing your pet's food at home might sound like a good option and there are certainly some benefits. By preparing your pet's food at home, you know exactly what is going in to the food, and can be sure there are no hidden pet food additives.

Studies looking at whether vegetarian pet food meets nutritional requirements: It's easy to assume that commercial vegetarian diets will be more likely to be deficient in certain nutrients than meat-based diets. However, research from the USA into the regulations, quality control and testing procedures of a wide variety of pet food brands proved that nutritional inadequacies are just as commonly found in meat-containing lines of pet food, as they are in their commercial vegetarian counterparts. Ultimately, there is a spectrum of low to high quality food for both meat and vegetarian-based diets and every diet should be considered on a case-by-case basis.
